Sharon is Here!

Sharon and Me

This picture was taken in our backyard here in Hungary!  Praise God for all that He has done!  Thank YOU for your prayers for her.  She still has about 10% to raise (approximately $200/month), but she was allowed to come on the 90%.  She started Teacher Orientation the morning after she arrived!  Thankfully, today is a Hungarian national holiday (St. Stephen's Day) so she can take it easy before returning to Teacher Orientation tomorrow, with school starting this coming Wednesday.  She has a lot to do to prepare for the school year, find an apartment, and get settled, but she is so happy and thankful to be here.  We are happy and thankful too!

May God bless you for your prayers!

Praise God!

The 90% has been reached!  Sharon can now buy her tickets and start packing.  Thank you so much for your prayers.  This is so exciting!!

Keep praying for the last $200/month to come in so that she will be fully supported while she is here.  Also, let's ask God for a good flight, affordable housing, and a smooth transition for her.

Isn't it wonderful to have a Heavenly Father who hears and answers our prayers?  Aren't you glad that all His promises are 'Yes' and 'Amen' in Christ and that He will "supply all [our] needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus"?  Praise God!

$80.00 to Go!

As you know, the International Christian School of Budapest was in need of a 5th grade teacher for the coming school year.  Sharon Ohlin, a former UWM missionary and former teacher at ICSB, has been raising support these past 7 weeks so that she could fill that position.

For those of you who have been praying, Sharon has 100% of her out-going funds raised and 86% of her monthly support raised.  She will need to get to 90% before she will be allowed to order her airline tickets.  With Staff Orientation beginning next friday and school beginning on the 26th, she needs us to shower her in prayer.

There is just $80/month to raise in order to reach that 90% benchmark and just a little over $300/month to raise for her to be at full support.  Will you join us in praying for this provision?

God's resources are not limited!  He is calling people to join Sharon in this important ministry to the families of ICSB, many who are missionaries and rely on ICSB to educate their children, plus many families from the international community who will hear of the Good News of life in Christ at our school.

Thank you for remembering Sharon before the Lord.

Sharon sends first letter

Friday, 12 June 2009 4:27 P GMT+02

Dear Prayer Partners,

To update you on Sharon Ohlin's progress:  She was able to send out a letter to the parents of the children at the school where she is currently teaching.  That was 40 families!  Please pray that God would give her favor in their eyes, and that many would commit to support her prayerfully and/or financially.  One of the teachers she works with just told her that she would like to support her financially.  Praise God.

Again, once all the paperwork at the mission is completed, she will be able to send out a letter to everyone who was on her mailing list back when she was last a teacher at the International School of Budapest, about 6 years ago.  Pray that this could be accomplished quickly.

Thank you for standing with Sharon through your prayers!

1 Thessalonians 5:24 “Faithful is He who calls you, and Hewill also bring it to pass.”

Do Hard Things

So, have you read this book?

 Do Hard Things

"That's a book for teens," you say.  "Why would I want to read that?"

I first heard about this book when I stumbled across the website www.therebelution.com.  Twin teens Alex and Brett Harris are motivating teens to fight the low expectations set for them by society and to do something great.

I'm half-way through the book and am finding it interesting on a number of different levels.  It does a great job of outlining the things that hold teens back.  It gives ideas of how to throw off these restraints.  And it gives examples of what "hard things" might look like.  It does all this within the context of examples from the lives of real teenagers.

But not only does this book help me understand teens and possibly how to encourage them, but I am finding applications for myself as well.

If you are ever held back by feelings of inadequacy or fear; or if you are tempted to fall back into a complacent attitude; or if you ever let the opinions of others decide what you will or won't do, then I think you'd be encouraged by this book...whether you're 15, 25, 65, or 105.

Many great quotes too, from teenagers, yes, and also from adults like Corrie ten Boom, Smith Wigglesworth, Theodore Roosevelt, and CH Spurgeon.  And remember...I'm only half-way through this.

Buy this book.  Read it.  Then pass it on to a teen in your life.
